Sharing My Story
A Healthy + Active Nurse
As a nurse for over 26 years, I've always helped people recover from injuries and illnesses. Personally, I've long believed in taking care of myself. I've been a runner and triathlete for many years and have completed 10 marathons and a 1/2 Ironman Triathlon. Eating healthily and exercising nearly every day was normal for me and taking great care of myself turned out to be the best thing I ever did.
The Turning Point
In 2018, after having a minor surgical procedure, my life changed forever. Complications from that surgery required me to be rushed to the emergency department three days later with life-threatening symptoms. I then spent the next 11 days in a medically induced coma fighting for my life. The doctors would only tell my family that being healthy was the one advantage I had in surviving septic shock. Seven surgeries and 40 days later (26 in the ICU), I left the hospital, weakened but alive. People say that I was lucky, but I firmly believe preparing my body with my healthy lifestyle saved my life! I found a way that led me to this lifestyle, and I resolved to help people be the healthiest version of themselves.
My New Journey
After my hospitalization, I had injuries to my hands and feet that would not allow me to continue as an ICU nurse. To continue helping others with their preventative health journeys, I transitioned to becoming an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. An important part of a long, healthy life is pain-free movement and my certification as a ChiRunning® and ChiWalking® instructor allows for that.

I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between. Because no one way of eating works for everyone, I feel blessed and privileged to be able to offer a variety of choices to my clients! My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and prevention. Drawing on my expertise, I work with my clients to help make lifestyle changes and choose health-promoting ways that produce real and lasting results. You will develop a deeper understanding of food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your energy, balance, health, and happiness.
